KALTRAN
Our Mission
At KALTRAN our mission is to enhance the economic and social well being of the Kalispel Tribal people and surrounding community through the delivery of safe, reliable, efficient and friendly transportation services.
What
The Kalispel Tribal Transit System is a public transportation services operated by the Kalispel Tribal Planning Department under the Kalispel Tribal Business Council. The fleet consists of (2) 22-passenger buses and (1) 7-passenger van. All KALTRAN vehicles are ADA compliant.
Who
All members of the general public are welcome to ride aboard the Kalispel Transit System (KALTRAN).
Where
KALTRAN provides fixed route service from the Tribal Wellness Center to North Spokane 3 times per day. Round trip service is also provided to Ione 3 times per day, as well as 1 reverse commute trip to Newport per day. Local service from the towns of Cusick and Usk to the Wellness Center are also provided 2 times per day. Deviated services are also available up to 3/4 of a mile off the normal fixed route, or within the boundaries of the Kalispel Indian Reservation. All deviated route services must be scheduled with the KALTRAN office prior to the requested pick-up time, so vehicles can be appropriately dispatched. When KALTRAN is operational (4) days per week, from 6 am to 6 pm Monday thru Thursday. Cost
The Kalispel Tribal Transit System charges $1.00 per trip. Bus passes are available for $15.00 and offer 20 rides, which do not expire.
Funding
KALTRAN is currently funded through the FTA 5311 (c) Tribal Set Aside, as well the Washington State Department of Transportation.
