Our traditions and our language are what make the Kalispel people who we are today. The language ties us to the land, our relations, and our past.
The Kalispel Language Survival School started in 2016 with only 4 teachers and 15 students. Today we have 8 teachers and over 40 students (K-5). At the Kalispel Language Survival School, the students and teachers are like one big family, the students even refer to their classmates as their cousins and the teachers as their aunts and uncles. These students receive 4 1/2 hrs of language instruction in Science, Math, and Reading.
